7-Day Home Quarantine Mandatory For All Passengers Travelling To Assam

The second wave of Corona is wreaking havoc in Assam. Assam reported 1665 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday while 674 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in the Kamrup Metropolitan district.

All travellers coming to Assam will have to stay in 7-day mandatory home quarantine. The Assam government has taken this decision in view of the increase in Covid-19 cases in the state.


Assam Health Mitravellingmanta Biswa Sarma informed in a tweet "For all people traveling to Assam a 7-day home quarantine is being mandatory, in edition to the testing. Government officials and those traveling for medical reasons, and people with bereavement cases shall be exempted"

Himanat Biswa Sarma said on Wednesday that the state government will provide free vaccination to people between 18 and 45 years of age from May 1. He said that the donations received to tackle Covid-19 last year will be used for this purpose.

More than 300 passengers created a ruckus at Assam`s Silchar airport on Wednesday to escape the mandatory Covid-19 testing and fled from the Airport. The officials gave this information on Thursday and said that criminal action will be initiated against these people. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Cachar District Sumit Sattwan said that a total of 690 passengers from different parts of the country had arrived at Silchar Airport by 6 planes.

He said that samples of these passengers were to be taken at the airport and nearby Tikol Model Hospital for Covid-19 testing. "Around 300 passengers created a ruckus at both these places over the payment of Rs 500 test fee," the official said. The Assam government has made the Covid-19 test mandatory for all passengers arriving by air in the state under which rapid antigen testing is done free of charge while 500 has to be paid for a
RT-PCR test.
