Assam to import oxygen from Bhutan, Health Min says 'No Lockdown'

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that the Assam government has made arrangements to import oxygen from Bhutan. The Health Minister informed that a new oxygen plant is being set up in Bhutan, that is why we have decided to import oxygen from there.
There has been an outcry in the entire country due to oxygen. All the hospitals across the country are gasping for oxygen as hundreds of people have died across India due to a shortage of medical oxygen.
People of Assam are also worried about the news of oxygen shortage; however, Sunday has brought happy news for the countrymen. Following the instruction of the Health, Finance and Education Minister of Assam Government, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister of State for Health Piyush Hazarika and Rajya Sabha MP Bishwajit Daimari reached Samdrup Jhangkhar in East Bhutan on Sunday.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, Hemant Biswa said that there would be no shortage of Remedesivir injection in Assam, as the pharmaceutical manufacturer Sun Pharma has been requested to increase its production to 80,000 vials per week at its Palasbadi plant. The Health Minister said during this period that there will not be any oxygen crisis in Assam, because we have decided to import oxygen from Bhutan, a new oxygen plant has been set up in Bhutan.
Sarma further said that the situation in Assam is fine and the situation is under our control, so there is no need to impose a lockdown. He said that lockdown is required when there is a shortage of oxygen, injections, medicines and kits in hospitals, then we have to control the situation by the lockdown. He said that we are managing oxygen on a very large scale. After this, patients in hospitals will not have to bother for oxygen at all.
