Guwahati: Night Curfew Imposed In Assam From Today 8 pm, Check Out Details

Coronavirus has created a situation of panic all over the country, the second wave of Covid-19 is wreaking havoc in Assam. Assam reported 3137 COVID-19 cases on Monday while 1153 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in the Kamrup Metropolitan district.

To control the massive surge in Covid-19 cases, the Assam government has imposed a night lockdown with effect from today(Tuesday) night 8 pm till 5 am on April 1.

As per the order issued by the Assam government on Tuesday, the night curfew will be imposed in the state from 8 am to 5 am till 1 May. Apart from this, the Kamrup Metropolitan District of the state has ordered that all schools, colleges and coaching will be closed till May 11 amid the surge in Covid-19 cases. Earlier, the state government had issued strict orders to close all the shops before 6 pm in the evening.

Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua issued the new guidelines and directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure strict observance of restrictions.

In a fresh set of curbs, punitive provisions under different laws have also been implemented. Barua said that the new order comes into force with immediate effect and will remain in effect till April 30.
