The first dose has been stopped in the state due to the lack of vaccine supply in Assam. Even those arriving to take the scheduled second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine could not take the dose amid the shortage of vaccines.

The outcry for Covid-19 vaccines doesn`t seem to end anytime soon, on one hand, the Centre government is claiming there is no shortage of vaccines in the country, on the other, BJP ruled Assam is facing a severe shortage of Covid-19 vaccines.

Even those arriving to take the scheduled second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine could not take the dose amid the shortage of vaccines.

The first dose has been stopped in the state due to the lack of vaccine supply in Assam, the government says it will only vaccinate those people who have taken the first dose. Such a decision has been taken saying that even after the expiry of the deadline for taking the second dose, a large number of second doses could not be given.

Residents of Guwahati say that even after visiting the vaccination centre for five straight days they have not been able to get the second dose. Many more people have made such complaints and they say that "there is a huge shortage of corona vaccine in the state at this time". People say that there is a difference of 42 days between the first and second dose and we have already crossed that day.

Meanwhile, there are reports that there is a stock of vaccine in the private hospitals of Guwahati, but many can`t pay the fixed 1200 rupees for it. At the same time, a resident of Jorhat says that his parents did not get the second vaccine due to a shortage in the government hospitals, but he can also get it done by paying money in a private hospital, but unfortunately, there is no vaccination facility in the private hospital of Jorhat.
