A female elephant and her 8-month-old calf have been accused of killing a minor in Assam. The police have taken the elephant and her child into custody and handed them over to the forest department. Last week, on July 8, a boy was allegedly killed by an elephant named Dulumoni in the Bokokhat areas of Golaghat.

Following the public outcry, the police registered a case under section 304A (negligent cause of death) of the Indian Penal Code and took the female elephant and her calf into custody.

On July 8, a 14-year-old boy was attacked by an elephant in the Bokokhat area of ​​Golaghat, after which the boy died. After the incident, there was a demand to take action against the elephant. People had expressed anger over this incident. They say that the terror of elephants has started increasing in the state. The police and forest department should take action against this. The police was also constantly engaged in the investigation of the case and today the police caught the elephant and its child.

The female elephant and her baby belong to two-time former MLA from Bokakhat, Jiten Gogoi.
