Assam will raise 3 commando battalions for border security, move to SC over Mizoram dispute: CM Himanta

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma spoke to the media on the violence on the border of the two states after the dispute between the two states of the Northeast. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that this is not a political issue, it is a dispute between two states.

Even after the intervention of the Union Home Ministry, the ongoing dispute between the Chief Ministers of Assam and Mizoram has not stopped. Both the chief ministers are blaming each other. Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the Assam government will provide financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh each to the kin of the policemen killed in the border clash with Mizoram on Monday (July 26). One lakh rupees will be given to the injured. At the same time, the government has sent the injured SP to Mumbai for treatment.

The situation is tense after 5 soldiers were killed in a clash along the Assam-Mizoram border. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has decided to increase the security of the border areas. For this, commando battalions will be deployed in three districts. Himanta Biswa Sharma said that the Assam government will raise 3 commando battalions in Karimganj, Cachar and Hailakandi for which 3,000 soldiers will be recruited.

Regarding the violent clashes on the Assam-Mizoram border, Chief Minister Sarma said, `It is a reserve forest area. You can see it through Satellite imaging. The Assam government has also decided to move the Supreme Court.
