Continuous efforts are being made by both the state governments to bring the situation under control after the violent clashes between Assam-Mizoram on July 26 over the border dispute. Two Assam ministers Atul Bora and Ashok Singhal have reached Mizoram`s capital Aizawl on Thursday on the instructions of Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. Along with the minister, Assam`s Border Security and Development Department`s commissioner and secretary DG Tripathi has also arrived.

An important meeting of the ministers of both states was held on Thursday to reduce the tense atmosphere arising out of the border dispute between Assam and Mizoram. In this meeting held in Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, both the states agreed to resolve the border dispute through dialogue and an amicable manner. Along with this, it was also decided that Assam will withdraw the earlier advisory regarding not travelling to Mizoram.

Both the Assam ministers reached Mizoram`s Lengpui airport by plane to take part in the meeting organized to resolve the border problem. Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga himself has tweeted about the arrival of Assam ministers to Aizawl.

The ministers of both the states said in a joint statement that the Home Ministry had talked about resolving the border dispute through talks. Under this, a meeting of the ministers of both the states was held today and both the states have also agreed to maintain peace on the border.
