Mumbai man held with 3kg gold in Belagavi

Belagavi: CCIB police recovered 3kg gold worth approximately Rs 95.1 lakh from a Mumbai resident near Gandhi Nagar on Saturday night.The accused Mohan Devkar, 30, a resident of Bandra (West), was allegedly illegally transporting the gold Police found him moving in a suspicious manner near Sagar Hotel in Gandhi Nagar at 12.30am. A patrolling team checked Devkar and recovered three gold biscuits and Rs 15,000 cash from him.The accused failed to produce relevant documents for the valuables.Upon interrogation, Devkar confessed to gaining possession of the gold by unfair means.Inspector A S Budigoppa led the operation. A case has been registered in Malmaruti police station.
