Hubballi: Mahadayi activists return from New Delhi

HUBBALLI: Mahadayi activists welcomed a delegation of their comrades, who returned from New Delhi after meeting Union water resources minister Nitin Gadkari , here on Sunday.The activists welcomed the farmer-activists at Rani Chennamma Circle. Sahyadri Jala-Jana Society, a Shivamogga based NGO, also extended its support to farmers who headed to New Delhi. Once the final verdict is delivered, further course of action will be decided,” Ambali added.It may be recalled here that the activists, under the banner of Mahadayi Kalasa Banduri Horatagarara Mahadayigagi Mahavedike went to New Delhi to meet Modi. The minister assured that justice will be done to the three states. They also shouted slogans, demanding amicable solutions to the Mahadayi water dispute between Karnataka , Goa and Maharashtra Activist Shankar Ambali told TOI that the delegation met Gadkari who assured of meeting the activists again in August if the final verdict of the Mahadayi Water Disputes Tribunal, which is delivering final in July, is not satisfactory.“Gadkari told us that prime minister Narendra Modi assigned him to speak to the delegation.
