Man shot at while trying to escape from police custody

Kalaburagi: Police fired at a triple murder accused while he tried to escape from their custody at Sedam Road on the outskirts of Kalaburagi on Thursday. On receiving the information, a team of Kalaburagi police went to Hyderabad, but Mustafa escape by biting the hand of sub-inspector Akkamahadevi. Akbar and Sainaz died the same day at a private hospital in Kalaburagi. Sania and Yasin were admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad where the former succumbed to injuries.

Kalaburagi: Police fired at a triple murder accused while he tried to escape from their custody at Sedam Road on the outskirts of Kalaburagi on Thursday. The incident took place when Mohammed Mustafa was taken to the spot where he had hid items used to set ablaze his brother-in-law’s house in Iqbal Colony near Hussain Garden here on July 4.Mustafa attacked policemen with a knife, injuring three constables attached to the RG Nagar police station — Sardar Patel, Salim Patel and Shivaling who were admitted to the Basaveshwar Hospital. Police shot Mustafa in his legs. He was admitted to the district hospital.Mustafa is accused of killing his brother-in-law Syed Akbar, 45, his wife Shainaaz Begum, 37, and their 17-year-old daughter Sania Begum. Agitated by the reprimand, Mustafa threatened to kill Akbar and his family. Police are in possession of the threat call.Mustafa poured kerosene on Akbar’s house and set it on fire on July 4. Akbar and Sainaz died the same day at a private hospital in Kalaburagi. Sania and Yasin were admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad where the former succumbed to injuries. The victims sustained 70-80% injuries in the fire.After the incident, Mustafa fled to Hyderabad. On receiving the information, a team of Kalaburagi police went to Hyderabad, but Mustafa escape by biting the hand of sub-inspector Akkamahadevi. Kalaburagi police received another information that Mustafa had fled to Ajmer. Kalaburagi police managed to arrest Mustafa from Ajmer and brought him to the city.
