Publish white paper on funds released to north Karnataka since 1956, Deve Gowda urges son HDK

I also urge Kumaraswamy to publish a white paper on the grants released by successive governments to north Karnataka and other parts of the state since 1956. HUBBALLi: Former prime minister and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda said that injustice was not done to north Karnataka in the budget presented by chief minister H D Kumaraswamy.Gowda told reporters here on Sunday that former minister H K Patil has been accusing Kumaraswamy of doing injustice to north Karnataka. “I would like to ask Patil how much funds he managed to bring for north Karnataka, especially Gadag district. I also urge Kumaraswamy to publish a white paper on the grants released by successive governments to north Karnataka and other parts of the state since 1956. Let him discuss the matter thoroughly in Karnataka assembly for two or three days and come out with a white paper on how much grants were released for taking up various development works, including irrigation and infrastructure, in north Karnataka,” Gowda said.The JD(S) supremo said that he is travelling across the state to strengthen the party in the run-up to the elections to the Lok Sabha, zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat. “JD(S) has not performed well in the elections to assembly. Since Kumaraswamy is chief minister, it is not possible for him to tour the state to strengthen the party. Hence, I’m travelling across the state to organise the party,” he said.When asked about the Third Front in the upcoming elections to the Lok Sabha, Gowda said that Third Front has not been formed yet. “Except NDA, the leaders of all parties convened in Bengaluru. There may be the possibilities of pre-poll or post poll alliances. Regional parties are in good condition in many parts of the state,” he said.Prior to this, after arriving by train from Bengaluru, Gowda visited the house of pro-tem chairman of legislative council, Basavaraj Horatti, and had breakfast. Gowda was served north Karnataka’s popular dish Jowar Roti and chutney. Later, Gowda headed for Belagavi.
