Ruckus fire expose SIs affair with constables wife lovers arrested

BALLARI: An armed reserve police sub-inspector and a constable's wife were arrested on Thursday following complaints by the former's neighbours who accused them of having illicit relations, creating a ruckus and misbehaving with them. The constable and his wife have two children.The romantic tryst at DAR officers quarters lasted two days but the lovers had begun to quarrel by then. The constable was posted at PD Halli.The SI allegedly asked his paramour to stay over at his place when his wife was away at her parents' place. The SI recently became father of a girl and mother and child were yet to return home.

The affair, believed to have begun 2-3 years ago, came to the fore when the constable's wife came to stay with the SI at the officers quarters.SI Kiran Samrat and the constable's wife were classmates in college at Kottur in Ballari district. Both are 33 years old. Samrat works in the control room of the SP's office. The constable was posted at PD Halli.The SI allegedly asked his paramour to stay over at his place when his wife was away at her parents' place. The SI recently became father of a girl and mother and child were yet to return home. The constable and his wife have two children.The romantic tryst at DAR officers quarters lasted two days but the lovers had begun to quarrel by then. Arguments led to fights and, neigbours said, had resulted in broken doors and window panes. An angry Samrat then left a burning cigar on the sofa, causing a fire in the entire house.As the couple ignored their entreaties, neighbours called the fire brigade.They complained to police about the duo, saying they had threatened them against calling the authorities.A senior officer visited the spot, spoke to the neighbours and informed higher officers of the goings-on. An FIR was later registered at Gandhinagar police station.HMD Sardar, 40, a senior officer of the District Armed Reserve police, filed the FIR, seeking immediate action under sections pertaining to damage of public property and the Karnataka Police Act.The SI and his paramour were arrested on Thursday at their residence. Both are lodged in Ballari Central Jail.
