North Karnataka forums miffed with govt’s delay in shifting offices to SVS

We had thought the process of shifting offices will start immediately after the CM’s assurance. Nut not even a single correspondence has taken place about shifting the offices to SVS. Their resolve was hardened following the shifting of two offices from Belagavi to South Karnakata.“We are getting ready for the next big movement opposing the attitude of the government towards North Karnataka. Shortly, we will hold a bigger agitation condemning the attitude of the government,” Gadad said. BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa had also visited the spot.Considering the seriousness of the matter, chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, on the same day announced that some offices would be shifted to SVS.

BELAGAVI: Almost a month has passed since 65 seers of several mutts protested in front of Suvarna Vidhana Soudha SVS ) here urging the government to shift administrative offices to the legislative complex here.During the protest on July 31, the seers had also demanded the overall development of North Karnataka region. BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa had also visited the spot.Considering the seriousness of the matter, chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, on the same day announced that some offices would be shifted to SVS. Going a step ahead, the CM said he had a proposal to declare Belagavi as the second capital of the state.Although the state government had accepted the seers’ demand, nothing seems to have happened after that.Piqued by the government’s reluctance to develop North Karnataka, several organizations are getting ready for another movement. Their resolve was hardened following the shifting of two offices from Belagavi to South Karnakata.“We are getting ready for the next big movement opposing the attitude of the government towards North Karnataka. We had given a month’s deadline but it appears that the government is thick skinned,” Ashok Pujari, chief of Uttar Karnataka Vikas Vedike told TOI.Bhimappa Gadad, who heads Uttar Karnataka Horata Samiti said the delay on part of the state government was nothing but an insult to the people and seers of North Karnataka.“This is not a good development for the state. It looks as if the government is indirectly pushing for the bifurcation of the state. Shortly, we will hold a bigger agitation condemning the attitude of the government,” Gadad said.
