Kudachi MLA in soup over trespassing case

On June 1, 2018, the case was transferred to city civil & sessions court, Bengaluru.The special court issued arrest warrants against the MLA on July 6, August 13, September 10 and October 9. According to police sources, Rajiv and his followers have not been reachable for the past four days. However, the IGP is yet to give his approval.Rajiv avoided going to the district court and the special court of Bengaluru. However, neither did the MLA surrender nor did police produce him in court.In a major twist, after the chargesheet was filed, Rajiv approached the home minister who directed police to reinvestigate the case. He has stated on a social media platform that he doesn’t fear arrest as he has done no wrong and is innocent.

Belagavi: Kudachi MLA P Rajiv (BJP) is in trouble for allegedly trespassing the private residence of former MLA Shyam Ghatage along with his followers in 2016 and not attending subsequent court hearings.The city civil & sessions court, Bengaluru, which deals with cases pertaining to MLAs and MPs, issued four arrest warrants against Rajiv since July and has given police an ultimatum to produce him in court by October 25.Belagavi police are under tremendous pressure to arrest him and produce him in court as the court could take action against Belagavi SP and IGP (Northern Range). According to police sources, Rajiv and his followers have not been reachable for the past four days. A senior police officer and his team went to his Bengaluru residence but in vain.Shyam Ghatage’s family had registered the complaint against Rajiv and his followers under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and sections of the IPC including attempt to murder and criminal trespassing.The then Chikkodi DySP investigated the case and submitted a chargesheet in the 3rd additional district and sessions court of Belagavi. On June 1, 2018, the case was transferred to city civil & sessions court, Bengaluru.The special court issued arrest warrants against the MLA on July 6, August 13, September 10 and October 9. However, neither did the MLA surrender nor did police produce him in court.In a major twist, after the chargesheet was filed, Rajiv approached the home minister who directed police to reinvestigate the case. Belagavi SP’s office prepared a ‘B’ report and submitted it to IGP (Northern Range) for approval. However, the IGP is yet to give his approval.Rajiv avoided going to the district court and the special court of Bengaluru. TOI tried to repeatedly to contact him but he didn’t take the calls. He has stated on a social media platform that he doesn’t fear arrest as he has done no wrong and is innocent. He added that he’s ready to go anywhere to make his stand clear on this issue.
