BELAGAVI: “I’m ready to take on the responsibility as chief minister if the high command so wishes,” said home minister G Parameshwara here on Saturday.He was speaking to mediapersons after attending the attestation parade of 362 newly recruited men and women constables of reserve police who completed the nine-month training programme.Parameshwara said he has long experience of being a KPCC president and is ready to take on responsibility of any post when asked about projecting minister D K Shivakumar as the next chief ministerial candidate in the Congress.Addressing new recruits, he said cybercrimes are an increasing threat. In this context, police officers are being trained about cybercrime and a college of cybercrime prevention is being set up in Bengaluru in association with Infosys, he said. He added that for the first time in the country, cybercrime police station and cyber technology unit has been established in Bengaluru.He said 23,000 police personnel were recruited last year and 4,000 more will be recruited this year. There is a plan of recruiting 20,000 police personnel in the next five years. Under the Police Gruha Yojane, government plans to allot 1.06 lakh houses to police personnel.He praised the services of DG & IGP Neelamani Raju saying she is a model for the department. MLAs Anjali Nimbalkar, Shrimant Patil, KSRP ADGP Bhaskar Rao, city police commissioner DC Rajappa, SP Sudheerkumar Reddy were present on the occasion.PM need not worry about our internal mattersP rime Minister Narendra Modi should not worry about our party’s internal matters, said Parameshwara.He was responding to Modi’s challenge to the Congress to appoint a leader out of the Gandhi family as AICC president. Parameshwara spoke to reporters at the Hubballi airport on Saturday.On the Ambidant case, he said CCB was conducting a comprehensive inquiry over all aspects including former minster Janardhana Reddy’s involvement.“Once we receive a report from CCB, we will think about the next course of action. However, officials are discharging their duties and there is no interference of the government,” he added.Admitting a delay in waiving farm loans from nationalized banks, Parameshwara said chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has already clarified that he would release Rs 12,000 crore and loans will be waived off soon.Co mmenting on the killings of activist M M Kalburgi and journalist Gauri Lankesh, the home minister said strong evidence has been collected and added that a same group was behind the murders and also of activists Pansare and Dabholkar.
