Dharwad: Public works department minister H D Revanna accused the Centre of meting out step-motherly treatment to Karnataka while releasing drought-relief funds Speaking to reporters after chairing a review meeting of PWD here on Tuesday, informed that 160 taluks in the state are drought hit. “There is shortage of drinking water, fodder and employment under daily wages. The state government submitted a drought report seeking Rs 2,500 crore from the Centre, but the Centre released Rs 900 crore,” Revanna said.The minister said that this is not the case in BJP-ruled Maharashtra which got Rs 4,000 for drought management. “The BJP leaders in the state have failed to mount pressure on their central leaders to get more funds released,” he said.Revanna added that the Centre is delaying release of Rs 2,000 crore under MGNREGA and Rs 2,000 for food grain procurement. “Even after repeated appeals, the Centre has not responded positively,” he said.Revanna said that the State Budget will be pro-farmers. He added that the coalition government is stable and all the JD(S) and Congress MLAs are united.
