Valentine Day: Forums threaten to marry couples

HUBBALLI: Kranti Sena Karnataka and Karnataka Yuva Sena said on Wednesday that couples found in parks and public places on Valentine’s Day would be married off. Kranti Sena state president Vittal Pawar said activists would visit parks, pubs and hotels.“If lovers are found in any compromising position, they will be caught. If the number exceeds that, we are ready to make further arrangements,” said Pawar.Karnataka Yuva Sena state president Shrinath Pawar said they have requested police not to allow Valentine’s Day celebrations at public places. This time we have made arrangements for the wedding of 10 couples. We will then inform their respective parents and with their consent, get them married at temples,” he said.“On behalf of our organisation a saree, a tali (turmeric root with thread), kurta paijama along with Rs 10,000 would be given”, he added.“We had stopped Valentine’s Day celebrations at several places in the city last year and had also made a couple get married in front of their parents.
