Dharwad: Teachers, students barred from carrying cellphones

DHARWAD: Teachers and non-teaching staff deployed on SSLC examination duty and candidates will not be permitted to carry cellphones and other electronic gadgets inside the examination centres.The SSLC examination will commence across the state on March 21 and conclude on April 4. CCTV cameras have been installed at valuation centres too, Mannikeri said. While 17,112 candidates will write the examinations in Kannada medium, 7,818 will write in English. Evaluation at 10 centresMannikeri said the evaluation of answer scripts will start immediately after the examination at 10 centres in Dharwad and Hubballi. Besides, 33 candidates are from Hindi medium and 28 are from Telugu medium.

The exam will be held from 9.30am to 12.30pm on all the days. On April 2, the Carnatic music / Hindustani Music paper will be held from 2pm to 5pm.Dharwad deputy director of public instruction (DDPI) Gajanan Mannikeri told reporters here on Monday that 27,152 students would write the exam. While 17,112 candidates will write the examinations in Kannada medium, 7,818 will write in English. Besides, 33 candidates are from Hindi medium and 28 are from Telugu medium. Three candidates have opted for Marathi and two for Tamil, he said.Elaborate arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the examinations. The question papers will be transported to the designated examinations with police security. Vigilance teams have been formed for each of the examination center and CCTV cameras have been installed at all the examination centers and strong rooms where the question papers are bundled to avoid possible malpractice during the examinations.Prohibitory orders have been clamped around a 200 meter radius of all examination centres and photocopy centres near them have been asked to close during examination hours, he added. Evaluation at 10 centresMannikeri said the evaluation of answer scripts will start immediately after the examination at 10 centres in Dharwad and Hubballi. The DDPI office has appointed one camp custodian for each of these centers.As the results need to be fed on the software of the Examination Board, the valuation centres have been provided computers, laptops, internet, UPS and other facilities. Separate computer rooms have been set up in all valuation centers and a district level programmer and data entry operators have been appointed. The strongroom too has been made ready and police will take the responsibility of guarding it. CCTV cameras have been installed at valuation centres too, Mannikeri said.
