Dharwad building collapse: Death toll mounts to 3

DHARWAD: Death toll in the building collapse incident at Dharwad went up to 3 on Wednesday morning even as 73 more NDRF personnel from Ghaziabad joined the rescue operations at the site.Speaking to reporters, District Collector Deepa Cholan said, "As many as 53 persons were rescued till Wednesday morning. Now 73 NDRF personnel, who arrived from Ghaziabad, have joined the rescue operation. A team of 35 NDRF personnel from Bengaluru joined in the relief works Tuesday late night and continued till Wednesday morning. Operation has been intensified and we are putting all possible efforts to rescue the trapped people.”Meanwhile, NDRF is carrying out rescue work with advanced equipments. Rescue teams are in contact with four persons who are trapped under the debris.

Three tunnels have been dug up to bring out the trapped persons.District Surgeon Dr Giridhar Kuknoor said that a total of 13 injured persons have been shifted to SDM Hospital in Dharwad and KIMS in Hubballi.
