DHARWAD: The Civil Hospital resembled a battlefield on Tuesday evening with the inflow of injured people.Sensing the gravity, all the doctors were summoned to duty. As many as 50 doctors of the hospital and some private doctors expedited the treatment. Dr RM Doddamani said they have deployed 22 ambulances to shift the injured.Dr Giridhar Kuknoor, district surgeon, said: “So far, 28 people have been rescued and three patients have been shifted to KIMS.”All the seven ambulances of the hospital and 108 ambulances were busy shuffling between the accident site and the hospital. As soon as the injured were brought to the hospital, the staff launched a helpline: 0836-2441188. A list of the injured was pasted at the hospital entrance. The Civil Hospital received 22 patients till 8pm. Saleem Mohammed Makandar, 42, a mason from Anand Nagar, Hubballi, succumbed to injuries at the hospital.Those who sustained grievous injuries were shifted to KIMS in Hubballi and SDM Hospital in Dharwad Shankar Kotturshetty, a resident of Tapovan in Dharwad, said his friend Mahesh Hiremath, 63, and his son Asith Hiremath, 30, were running a paint shop in the building. “I am searching for them, but have not got any information so far,” he said.
