Belagavi: Khade Bazaar police on Tuesday arrested a youth for allegedly harassing and threatening to kill a college girl.Rajashri Athalye, a resident of Athalye Colony SPM Road , submitted a memorandum to DCP (law and order) Amarnath Reddy on Tuesday, accusing Navajyot Singh Bhatia of pelting stones on her residence and harassing her children. She complained that Bhatia, a resident of Shahapur in the city, is threatening to killing her college-going daughter Shreya and son Aditya.Rajashri said she had brought the issue to the notice of Bhatia's parents and principal of his college. But the step went in vain as the accused continued stalking and harassing Shreya. Rajashri said that he lodged a police complaint, but Bhatia was let free with a warning. The complainant said that the youth does not fear police as he has political backing. She requested the DCP to provide protection to her children and take action against the accused.Reddy DCP asked police to register complaint at Khade Bazar police station and arrest him. By noon, Bhatiya was arrested and sent to prison. He will be produced before a court on Wednesday.
