Kalaburagi: Kalaburagi police opened fire at an absconding undertrial at Ashraya Colony near Naganahalli on the outskirts of the city on Tuesday.After receiving credible information, police swung into action and surrounded Tajuddin, who had escaped from Kalaburagi Central Jail on March 23. Tajuddin took out a sword and challenged the policemen. The accused grievously injured a constable with his sword.That is when MB Nagar police station inspector J H Inamdar started firing at Tajuddin. In the two rounds of firing, Tajuddin received injuries to his right knee and collapsed. Police took him to the district hospital where he is undergoing treatment. Raghuveer, the constable attached to Farahatabad police station who was injured, was admitted to a private hospital in the city.Tajuddin was arrested under the Pocso Act . This is the second time he escaped from jail. In the first case, he jumped off the third floor of district hospital and escaped from the clutches of police. In March, he escaped from Kalaburagi Central Jail along with three others.Tajuddin is also wanted by Telangana police for robbing train passengers. He is also involved in other cases.
