Robber pushes ticket examiner out of train

HUBBALLI: A 45-year-old Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) suffered head injuries and a fracture on his hand after a robber pushed him out of a Delhi-Goa train in Belagavi on Sunday. When they started towards the loo, the miscreant started sprinting away from the coach, with the TTE hot on his heels. In the melee, the robber melted into the predawn darkness.Passengers informed the ticket collectors of other coaches. I regained composure a few minutes later, and boarded the train that reversed after 10-15 minutes," he added. The train travelled back on the same track for 5km to pick up Chinnappa.

HUBBALLI: A 45-year-old Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) suffered head injuries and a fracture on his hand after a robber pushed him out of a Delhi-Goa train in Belagavi on Sunday. However KM Chinnappa , the TTE, is now out of danger.Police said Chinnappa, allotted to check tickets on S-9 to S-11 coaches of Hazrat Nizamuddin-Vasco da Gama Express , caught a miscreant stealing a passenger's cellphone around 4am. The miscreant, aged 25-30, was travelling with an unreserved ticket. Chinnappa took a photo of the miscreant and caught him.A passenger said, "At 3.50am, we heard an argument between the TTE and a person. The TTE was requesting the man to sit in a place until the next station. Just then, he requested the TTE for a loo break. When they started towards the loo, the miscreant started sprinting away from the coach, with the TTE hot on his heels."Chinnappa said the miscreant wanted to enter the general compartment."When I tried to catch him, he pushed me out of the train. I fell on the track, blank. I regained composure a few minutes later, and boarded the train that reversed after 10-15 minutes," he added. In the melee, the robber melted into the predawn darkness.Passengers informed the ticket collectors of other coaches. The train travelled back on the same track for 5km to pick up Chinnappa.
