To nurture a garden is to feed not just on the body, but the soul." — Alfred Austin The Gardeners Club Belgaum recently organized the Plants and Flower show, gathering happy families from the city, who love gardening and have been doing it with passion and love. The event-cum-contest was organized after a gap of 12 years, and was organized at the Mahaveer Bhavan in Hindwadi."The main motive behind this event was to highlight the importance of gardening," says Latika Bidikar, treasurer, Gardeners Club Belgaum.Schoolchildren were also a part of the event in the form of participants for 'flower arrangement', which was part of the same event. There was also a 'potted plants' contest in the open category, which saw families participating in large numbers.The categories of the contest included potted plants, flower and leaf arrangement and cut flowers.A public exhibition was also arranged, which was followed by a prize distribution ceremony. Immense knowledge and tips were shared about gardening, to the glee of visitors who gathered at the the venue.There were around 50 species of plants displayed and more than 100 prizes for the event.
