TS inks tech partnership with Taiwanese city of Taoyuan

The Telangana government and the Taiwanese city of Taoyuan on Wednesday entered into a technology partnership agreement to facilitate learning and knowledge sharing in emerging technologies and their implementation. In Taiwan, Taoyuan is a hub for firms working in new-age technologies such as robotics and IoT (Internet of Things), Mr. Ranjan said, explaining that the partnership would promote knowledge sharing between various entities. It would provide insights into implementation of IoT, robotics and other emerging technologies, including VR/AR in governance and for offering government-to-citizen services. The start-up exchange programme between Taoyuan and particularly T-Works, the makerspace being developed by the State government, would be run, he said. A release from Mr. Rao’s office said Taoyuan was one of the fastest growing cities with respect to entrepreneurship, innovation and IoT. Under the partnership, the two sides have agreed to collaborate on attracting investments, work in the areas of products and applications that help governance, support start-ups, promote tie-ups between educational institutions as well as explore the possibility of conducting joint exhibition of latest technology solutions. Any home-grown company in Taoyuan desirous of exploring the markets in Telangana and setting up operations in the State would be provided the necessary regulatory support and benefits as mentioned in the ICT Policy. Likewise, companies with origin or large presence in Telangana would be encouraged to evaluate economic opportunity to set up operations with the local government support in Taoyuan, the release said. Under the MoU, any technology product or application developed by an enterprise in Taoyuan of relevance to Telangana would be tried and tested within a designated sample area in the State as a Proof of Concept. Under the T-Bridge programme of T-Hub, the two sides would facilitate exchange of start-ups. “Support in the form of market strategy, mentorship, access to funding is to be provided through T-Bridge,” the release said. Faculty training, student exchange and research and development programmes in the areas of IoT and smart technologies would be pursued. Telangana and Taoyuan would also be exploring the possibility of holding a joint exhibition of innovative technology solutions, on a rotation basis between them once in two years, the release said.
