Telangana University Vice-Chancellor P. Sambaiah addressing students at the valedictory function at Bibipur in Nizamabad district on Wednesday. more-in The NSS volunteers of Telangana University sensitised the residents of Bibipur in Dichpally mandal on the need for keeping the environs clean for leading a healthy life, as part of a week-long winter special camp here. A total of 50 students formed into five teams participated in different activities during the camp, supervised by programme officer B. Nandini. Cultural programmes The camp began with a rally taken out in the village. Cultural programmes, sports competitions and distribution of prizes marked the last day of the camp. Addressing the valedictory function here on Wednesday, TU Vice-Chancellor P. Sambaiah said activities for NSS volunteers were designed in such a way that they helped them develop a strong personality. He complimented the volunteers and the programme officer for selecting the village, inhabited mainly by Lambada tribes. “It’s laudable that though there are no facilities to camp here, the students stayed in the village for a week,” he said. Prof. Sambaiah said being part of the NSS would make students disciplined, with a strong commitment towards social causes.Ms. Nandini said the volunteers created awareness on the importance of literacy, street lights, road repairs, seasonal diseases and their causes. She added that they prepared food by themselves and had no qualms about mingling with the residents of the village. Earlier, the NSS volunteers shared their experiences with the dignitaries present at the valedictory. The university Controller of Examinations M. Yadagiri, faculty members Arathi, Thriveni, Ravinder Reddy, Venkateswarlu, Rambabu and Punnaiah, village vice-president Seetharam Naik and others were also present.
