Special funds sought for SC/STs

Making changes in the budgetary pattern, the Telangana government had modified the Act as Telangana State Scheduled Castes and Schedule Tribes Special Development Fund - Planning Allocation and Utilisation of Financial Resources, Act-2017, the letter noted. Satyanarayana recalled the enactment of sub-plans for SCs and STs, which was the first of its kind in the country. In their representation to Mr. Katheria, Centre Director Y.B. Centre for Dalit Studies on Wednesday made a representation to the chairperson of National Commission for Scheduled Castes Ramshankar Katheria, requesting for adaptation of SC/ST Development Fund in all other states and at national level, as enacted by the Telangana State. Heaping praise on Telangana Rashtra Samithi for its “pro-Dalit and Adivasi” policies such as distribution of land to landless dalits, Kalyana Lakshmi, two-bedroom houses for weaker sections, establishment of residential schools, colleges and hostels and residential schools, besides Ambedkar Overseas Vidya Nidhi, the representation said creation of the development funds at central and state levels will accelerate development among the SCs and STs.
