Bifurcation issues likely to simmer for long

Officials dealing with the bifurcation issues on both the sides are expressing concern that the meetings between the two States to iron out the differences and arrive at an amicable solution for bifurcation of these institutions are being postponed frequently, delaying the process. Important meeting This follows the deferment of a crucial meeting convened by the Union Home Secretary on Friday to discuss about the status of implementation of the assurances given to the two States in the AP Reorganisation Act 2014. Secretaries of different Union Ministries/departments including Department of Industrial Promotion and Policy, Higher Education, Water Resources, Department of Expenditure, Shipping and Steel in addition to the Railway Board Chairman were expected to participate in the meeting which was deferred as Telangana expressed its inability to attend it. “There is no clarity about the fresh dates of the meetings as the budget sessions of the two States are set to commence soon while Parliament will commence its proceedings after the recess on March 5,” a senior official said.
