Telangana reels under high temperature

North-westerly winds devoid of moisture have been blowing over central India and the State, helping dry and hot weather to prevail. State government’s data showed Kondapur in Mancherial district recorded 43.6 degree Celsius, the highest any location recorded on Saturday. It could get worse, she added, if some moisture-laden winds blow from the Bay of Bengal. “An upper-air circulation is expected to affect South Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema after three days. This system could bring in moisture-laden air to Telangana. With humidity, discomfort being experienced becomes worse,” she said, adding that a temperature drop could occur after five days. Then too, relief would be short-lived, before temperature continues its climbs as the month of May nears. Intense heat notwithstanding, residents of Khammam and surrounding districts in the south-western parts of the State may be in store of temporary relief on Sunday. IMD has said the region could witness thundershower activity due to moisture influx.
