Govt. to complete Ramzan gift distribution by month-end

Mr. Khan was addressing the media on Sunday at the Telangana State Urdu Academy where he also spoke about recruitment of 66 Urdu Officers. Khan said the Ramzan gift pack will be handed over to 4 lakh families and efforts are on to finish the distribution by the end of the month. Mr. Khan said 4,518 aspirants had applied for the Urdu Officers’ posts. Mr. Khan acknowledged that several SC and ST reserved Urdu teacher posts were lying vacant, and some of the Urdu Officer post applicants had showed promise. He said as many as 11 applicants were from the Scheduled Caste reserved category and nine were from the Scheduled Tribes category.

These officers will be posted in various departments including the Chief Minister’s Office. “We want to finish off distribution by the May 30 or 31. The reason is that pack consists of an unstitched kurta and a pyjama cloth. The beneficiaries will have to give it to tailors who will be very busy this season,” he said. He also said the Dawat-e-Iftar will be organised between June 6 and June 8. As many as 800 masjids will be covered. Since around 50% of the Muslim population of the State lives in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Limits, the Dawat-e-Iftar will be organised in 400 masjids in the city. The breaking of fast for the remaining masjids will be in the districts. Mr. Khan said 4,518 aspirants had applied for the Urdu Officers’ posts. Out of this, 3,496 took the written test on Sunday. While there are six Grade – I posts, the remainder are Grade – II posts. He said as many as 11 applicants were from the Scheduled Caste reserved category and nine were from the Scheduled Tribes category. Mr. Khan acknowledged that several SC and ST reserved Urdu teacher posts were lying vacant, and some of the Urdu Officer post applicants had showed promise. He said a decision would be taken based on the score in the examination.
