more-in A five-minute song extolling the history, heritage and growth trajectory of the decades-old Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) recently released by the company has become a rage on social media and an instant hit with music lovers, especially in the coal belt. Written by famous Telugu film lyricist Kandi Konda and sung by noted film playback singer and music director Bholesha Vali, the song ‘Godavari Yedhalo Cheragani Charithala Na Thalli Singareni, Maa Bangarini... Taragani Sirula Mani’ encapsulates the origin of the over-a-century-old coal mining company, its unrelenting drive to propel national economy and grand plans to foray into new vistas of varied business segments. The SCCL, the only State-owned coal mining giant in the entire south India, is currently pursuing aggressive growth strategies. The song is part of an audio-visual campaign undertaken by the company’s Public Relations (PR) wing to highlight the company’s robust action plan to open 13 new coal mines and increase its annual coal production to 85 million tonnes from the present 62 million tonnes in the next five years. The PR wing has lined up a slew of initiatives to produce 10 documentary films, each focussing on the important milestones achieved by the company in coal production, dispatches and other realms of coal exploration and mining operations besides consultancy services and environmental management spheres. The documentaries will highlight the company’s ambitious plans to scale up thermal power generation from the present 1200MW to 2500MW, open solar power plants, double the production in the company’s explosive manufacturing units and acquire overseas coal assets through joint ventures under the aegis of the company Chairman and Managing Director N. Sridhar, SCCL sources said. “It is a matter of pride to direct and lend my voice to the song extolling Singareni, the jewel of Telangana and lifeline of thousands of people in the coal belt spread across six districts in the State,” says Bholesha Vali, who hails from Mahabubabad district. “It gives me immense satisfaction to sing a song in praise of the historic company engaged in relentless production endeavour and striving towards achieving the goal of Bangaru Telangana,” adds Mr. Vali, who is currently filming a video based on the theme song at various locations in the coal belt. Video release soon Efforts are on to complete the shoot over the next few days and release it on June 2 coinciding with the Telangana Formation Day. “I am confident that the Singarenians will draw inspiration from the song and contribute more productively to steer the coal mining giant on the path of progress,” he says.
