Congress draws up plans to face elections in State

The TPCC president said the Congress party is ready for polls even if they are held ahead of schedule in December this year. The Congress party has drawn a new plan to strengthen itself in its preparation for the Assembly polls in Telangana, allocating 40 constituencies each to the three newly appointed AICC secretaries. Party ticketsThe trio will have specific powers in their allocated districts, including recommending the party tickets to the deserving candidates in the next elections. Khuntia, former minister Jairam Ramesh and the three new secretaries — N.S. Bose Raju, Saleem Ahmed and Sreenivasan Krishnan — has drawn a 90-day plan where the three secretaries would tour extensively and galvanise the party cadre. Party tickets The trio will have specific powers in their allocated districts, including recommending the party tickets to the deserving candidates in the next elections. The secretaries will reach out to the cadre for 90 days at the lowest level eliciting their opinions on taking on the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi. Each constituency will be studied closely and the issues pertaining to it would be addressed. Mr. Khuntia said the meeting of PCC executive committee and also the district presidents will be held in Hyderabad on June 25 to discuss the strategy after which the secretaries will begin their operation. Mr. Khuntia said any leader can approach Mr. Rahul Gandhi but reaching out to the media to express their differences with other leaders would be be viewed seriously. Uttam will continue The AICC in-charge of Telangana made it clear that Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy will continue as the TPCC president and the party would go to polls under his leadership. Mr. Reddy said the AICC has announced the PCC committees for States where elections were due this year and for other States more time would be taken for finalisation of the committees. The TPCC president said the Congress party is ready for polls even if they are held ahead of schedule in December this year.
