Asaduddin Owaisi, MP and president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, on Saturday criticised BJP president Amit Shah for his alleged comments on the construction of a Ram temple on the disputed site in Ayodhya. He rejected the BJP’s clarification that Mr. Shah did not make any such comments. Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, Mr. Owaisi reiterated that the Babri Masjid title dispute case was being heard in the Supreme Court. The court would also decide whether prayers in a mosque was an essential practice in Islam. Given the seriousness of the case, he said it was concerning that time and again, the Sangh Parivar and the BJP had been claiming that the construction of the Ram temple would begin ahead of the Lok Sabha election in 2019. “This is sending a wrong signal to the country, but it is clear that the BJP and the Sangh Parivar are playing politics of polarisation as they have failed in matters of governance.” He said the BJP would lose badly in Telangana in the next Assembly election. “These people [BJP leaders] are not seen anywhere, save in TV studios. They have no future,” he said.
