India yet to tap its potential, Chaya Ratan

Retired civil servant Chaya Ratan said government should be accountable and its policies transparent for India to become a corruption-free country. India’s potential is yet to be tapped productively, she concluded. Despite growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) India has not progressed in social and environmental indices, she pointed out. National happiness index is low in India when compared to other developed countries because government has failed to be accountable and transparent, she opined. She was speaking at Durgabhai Deshmukh lecture organised here on Tuesday.
