Kone to enable elevators with IoT

A release said the new Kone U MonoSpace elevators are up to 35% more energy efficient than its earlier elevators. Kone, the Finnish major, has tied up with IBM Watson to harness IoT (internet of things) in the elevators. Kone India, he said, expects to launch the IoT-enabled products that can improve efficiency and address maintenance issues, early next year. Briefing press persons about the Kone U MonoSpace and Kone U MiniSpace, managing director Amit Gossain said the new products have 26 cars with visuals inspired by Navaratna, the nine gems. The Navaratna visual car designs, he added, would help Kone differentiate in the market place and enhance the customer experience.

Briefing press persons about the Kone U MonoSpace and Kone U MiniSpace, managing director Amit Gossain said the new products have 26 cars with visuals inspired by Navaratna, the nine gems. The Navaratna visual car designs, he added, would help Kone differentiate in the market place and enhance the customer experience. The products comes in the backdrop of construction and real estate customers demanding products that enhance energy-efficiency and contribute to achieving the green building certification norms like LEED and BREEAM. “With our new solutions, the carbon footprint of buildings can be cut to an even greater extent,” he said. A release said the new Kone U MonoSpace elevators are up to 35% more energy efficient than its earlier elevators. Kone, whose presence in India dates back to 1984, has a manufacturing facility in Chennai. It is in the process of setting up another facility at Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, which is to be commissioned by mid-2019. To queries, he said India is the second largest elevator market globally with sales of around 50,000 units a year. The market was hit by a slowdown in the wake of demonetisation and its impact on the real estate business. A good chunk of Kone India's business — the company has 20% share in the elevator market — comes from the residential segment.
