UoH post-graduate student jumps to death

On May 16, Neetu Das, research scholar attempted suicide by self-immolation in her hostel room on the UoH campus. Dejected over the failure in examination, a first-year post-graduate student of the University of Hyderabad allegedly jumped to death from the terrace of an apartment complex at Nallagandla near the University campus, police said. In July last year, Vishal Tandon (45), a research scholar of UoH committed suicide by jumping from the 14th floor of an apartment complex under Chandanagar police area. On Thursday, around noon, she gained entry to Hima Sai Lake View apartment at Nallagandla, after giving false information to the security. She was resident of East Marredpally in Secunderabad and failed in a subject in the recently held examinations. “The victim’s mother told us that Harshita was suffering from depression and was under medication,” he said. On Thursday, around noon, she gained entry to Hima Sai Lake View apartment at Nallagandla, after giving false information to the security. She directly went to the terrace and jumped from the building, the ACP said. No suicide note was found. The body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for autopsy.
