School kids protest damp walls, dangling wires

Broken roof, chipping paint, damp wallsand dangling wires pose a serious threat to their lives.“The condition of the roof is horrible. We have been assured of a new school building but nothing has been done,” said, Mohammed Abid.Locals and parents have taken a strong exception against authorities towards these problems. Parents threatened to protest on roads along with their children if the issues are not addressed immediately. The parents even wrote a letter to chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, requesting him to take immediate note of their problems and ensure early relocation of the school. Over 200 children have been studying in the battered building which has been deteriorating over the last several years.

CHARMINAR: Scores of students and their parents organized a silent protest on Thursday seeking proper facilities and immediate relocation of Tappachabutra Government Primary and High school in a new area.With the hopes of drawing the state government’s attention to the long pending issues of these institutions, students along with their parents marched towards a new school building. They complained about the pathetic conditions in the present building including lack of basic amenities, water leakage and dangling wires.“Children are forced to study without proper facilities in these government schools despite the fact that a new school building has been constructed. Only the toilets construction is yet to be undertaken. The students have been suffering a lot. We have come here to register our protest against the apathy of authorities concerned towards Urdu medium schools,” Osman Bin Mohammed Alhajri, Deccan Waqf Protection society president told TOI.
