People in contract service are allowed the additional marks towards the period of contract service in a graded manner, up to a maximum of 15 marks. The petitioner stated accused the state government of failing to provide equal opportunity to candidates and suggested that the recruitments be based on examinations.Following her petition, admitted in court, an interim order has now been passed on the issue. By having the additional benefit of 15 marks, the candidates would score 46 marks overall.”Terming the selection process as an eyewash she added: “Just a pass applicant is able to eliminate a 70 percentile candidate points out that this selection process is just a farce and a cloak in disguise for regularizing in service candidates into regular appointees.” As a result, a meritorious applicant scoring 70 per cent marks in academics will get 45.5 marks as 65 percent of aggregate marks, while an inservice contract applicant who has got passing marks of 50 percent and 65 per cent of aggregate comes to 32.5 marks. With these new recruitments 159 secondary health institutions under the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Pradishad (TVVP) are expected to extend speciality care in districts. But challenging the process the petitioner stated that, “applicants under contract service are more than the notified vacancies, as such and fresh candidates do not stand a chance even if they are far more meritorious than those in the contract service.

HYDERABAD: Following the recent round of doctor recruitments by the state health department, all further hiring have now been put on hold with a PG doctor from Khammam filing a petition in the Hyderabad High Court (a copy of which is with TOI) challenging the recruitments. As of now, 919 speciality doctor posts have been filled while an estimated 500 posts are still lying vacant. In her petition, the PG doctor, Sruti Vinta, has alleged that the selection process (based on aggregate marks) of inservice doctors and PG doctors was flawed and gave undue advantage to in-service doctors over meritorious candidates. The petitioner stated accused the state government of failing to provide equal opportunity to candidates and suggested that the recruitments be based on examinations.Following her petition, admitted in court, an interim order has now been passed on the issue. “As per the order, status quo has to be maintained until further orders, thereby putting on hold any further recruitments till the previous ones are examined and an order is passed by the court,” said Anand Kumar Kapoor, counsel for the case. The state health department had conducted the recruitments hoping to provide specialist doctors in districts and other locations, as most of them are currently concentrated in Hyderabad.
