Haj to begin from Aug. 1

The first Haj flights for the season will take off on August 1, announced special officer of State Haj Committee S.A. Shukoor here on Sunday. Prof. Shukoor was speaking at the 14th training camp for Haj pilgrims in the city. During the final day of the camp, scholar Moulana Mufti Tajammul Hussain explained Haj rituals and advised pilgrims to show utmost respect at Madeena al Munnawar, the city of Prophet Muhammad. “Pilgrims will be issued SIM cards for international use before their departure from Hyderabad,” Prof. Shukoor said. Successive flights will ferry pilgrims till August 16.

Dispelling rumours, he informed carrying ?2,000 currency notes to Saudi Arabia is not prohibited: “Any denomination of Indian currency can be carried within the limit permitted under foreign exchange management (export and import currency) regulations of 2015.” Pilgrims should practice walking for five or six kilometres daily and during the trip, they should carry medical prescription and medical reports if they need medicines during the journey. “Pilgrims will be issued SIM cards for international use before their departure from Hyderabad,” Prof. Shukoor said.
