more-in The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has urged managements of restaurants, bars and pubs with seating capacity of more than 50 to obtain fire safety certificate from the director of disaster management. It will be issued after an application is made, followed by inspection of the premises, said Mayor B. Rammohan on Monday. Applications can be obtained by downloading from the www. ghmc.gov.in on or before Aug.30. However, filled-in forms have to be submitted physically to the head office. At a meeting held with the owners and managements of these business establishments, Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy said the approximate cost of firefighting equipment for 1000 meters area of the floor will be from ?30,000 to ?50,000. Those failing to take fire safety clearance will have to face the prospect of their respective premises being sealed without any further notice, he warned. Director of Disaster Management and Vigilance Viswajeeth Kampati gave a PowerPoint presentation on how to obtain the application form from website and appealed to the owners to create awareness among their associations to adhere to fire safety norms.
