Urdu Officers selection row: next hearing on Sept. 4

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court has postponed the hearing of Urdu Officers case till September 4. Justice P. Naveen Rao who was hearing the case, granted two weeks’ time to the selected candidates to file their counter-affidavit. Recently recruitments were made for the posts of Urdu Officers in the minority welfare department. During the hearing of the case on Monday, counsel appearing for one of the selected candidates requested the court to grant time to file their counter in the case.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court has postponed the hearing of Urdu Officers case till September 4. Justice P. Naveen Rao who was hearing the case, granted two weeks’ time to the selected candidates to file their counter-affidavit. Recently recruitments were made for the posts of Urdu Officers in the minority welfare department. However, petitions were filed in the court challenging the action of the government in making the appointments without following the roster system. The petitions were filed by Mohammed Muttabi Ali Khan and another seeking to declare the action of the secretary in the department in not conducting the recruitment of Urdu Officers Grade I and Grade II posts in a fair and transparent manner as illegal. Earlier the judge had issued orders impleading the selected candidates as parties to the petition and issued notices to the selected candidates. During the hearing of the case on Monday, counsel appearing for one of the selected candidates requested the court to grant time to file their counter in the case. Hence the judge adjourned the case for two weeks and directed the official and respondents to file their counter-affidavits.
