A quest for innovation

Rama Rao has stressed on the need for Telangana universities to allow more flexibility to teachers and students to help them pursue innovation and promote the culture of entrepreneurship. Phanindra Sama, Chief Innovation Officer, Government of Telangana, explained how the Startup India Telangana Yatra would identify innovators during the 20 days of its visit to various colleges across several districts of Telangana. He was addressing TSCHE officials and the Vice Chancellors of various universities. TSCHE chairman T. Papi Reddy announced that the council and IT and Communications Departments would jointly identify the outstanding innovators and present them with “Innovation Awards” from the academic year 2019-2020. Prof. Venkataramana elaborated on the various initiatives being undertaken by TSCHE and also the activation of entrepreneurship development cells in colleges and universities.

Flagging off the Startup India Telangana Yatra, the Minister suggested that the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) must be at the forefront in suggesting suitable curricular changes and also facilitate students who wish to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams with ease, and without academic pressure. He was addressing TSCHE officials and the Vice Chancellors of various universities. TSCHE chairman T. Papi Reddy announced that the council and IT and Communications Departments would jointly identify the outstanding innovators and present them with “Innovation Awards” from the academic year 2019-2020. At the end of the yatra, 200 innovations would be showcased in the grand finale to be held at JNTU, Hyderabad, on October 5. Prior to the launch, a panel discussion was held where P. Ganesham, founder-president, Palle Srujana; Ajit Rangnekar, former dean of ISB, and V. Venkata Ramana, vice-chairman, TSCHE, spoke. The panelists outlined the need for developing and strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem through programs like Startup Yatra and also dissemination of the various schemes of the Central and State Government. Prof. Venkataramana elaborated on the various initiatives being undertaken by TSCHE and also the activation of entrepreneurship development cells in colleges and universities.
