HYDERABAD: Six members of dacoit gang made a vain bid to loot a jewellery shop owner in Keesara on Tuesday afternoon. At one point of time while escaping, the gang members opened fire in the air and created flutter. Rachakonda police said that it was around 2pm that two members of the gang entered the shop posing themselves as customers. They wanted the show owner to show them gold chain worth Rs 15,000. Later, the two gang members spoke between themselves that they also need to buy a ring, while the shop owner was watching at them. Suddenly, one of the two whipped out a gun and brandished at the shop owner. At the time of offence, only the shop owner was there, since his attender went to have his lunch. They tried to gag the shop owner but he showed some resistance by raising hue and cry. On hearing screams of the store owner, a woman who runs business from the next shop, came to the jewellery shop. To her shock, she saw dacoits aim their gun at the jewellery shop owner. Immediately, she too started shouting.Suddenly, four members who were standing outside the shop entered the shop. They happened to be members of the gang and one of them whipped out a gun. Perhaps fearing that they might be in some trouble, as passerby started to take notice that something is seriously wrong inside the shop, each member of the gang started to flee from the shop. In their hurry to flee from the store, one of the accused accidentally ended up dropping his weapon inside the store. After coming out of the shop, one of the accused opened fire in the air to threaten the passerby from coming near them. The whole area got jolted on hearing the sound. Immediately, all the six members sat on two bikes, on which they earlier reached the jewellery store. While they were speeding, the locals tried to pelt stones at them but they escaped. But to their misfortune, after travelling some 200 meters, one of their bikes met with an accident. Three members who were travelling on that bike abandoned it and started to run. After running till some distance, they stopped a biker and started to bet him. One of them attacked the biker on his head using the gun butt. Later, they snatched his bike and fled from the location.Rachakonda police on Tuesday evening released the video grab of one of the accused, who entered the store as a customer and announced a reward of Rs 50,000. Police suspect that the accused could be from North India based on the dialect of Hindi which they spoke with the store owner, who himself happens to be a native of Rajasthan.
