We are talking about Telangana`s most talked about the case of Pranay Kumar and Amrutha Varshini. The two fell in love and got married without the consent of bride`s father (Maruthi Rao) as he was against her daughter`s the marriage with a schedule caste man.
It all started in school, Amrutha and Pranay had been friends since childhood and joined engineering in different colleges in Hyderabad. Though this did not separate them.
The two decided to get married and shared vows at an Arya Samaj Mandir in January 2018, Hyderabad. Soon after their marriage, Amrutha`s father tried to separate both of them with the help of goons. Even before marriage, the anguished father offered Pranay Rs 3 crore to let Amrutha go. Now the only option left was to kill one of them. He chose the son-in-law.
On September 14, a contract killer attacked Pranay, outside a hospital where pregnant Amrutha, had come to consult a doctor. This video went viral too. But shocked at the brutality of a father and the pain of a daughter whose only fault was that she believed caste should not stand in the way of love, Nalgonda district erupted in rage.
The Bihar based gang initially demanded Rs 2.5 crore to execute the murder. But the deal was struck for Rs 1 crore. Nalgonda police superintendent AV Ranganath said, “The money was handed over by Kareem to Bari in Hyderabad. Bari took Rs 8 lakh, Asghar received Rs 6 lakh and Kareem the remaining Rs 1 lakh.”
Police had nabbed 7 convicts including Amrutha`s father Rao, driver Samudrala Shiva and contract killer from Bihar.
