Uttam Kumar Reddy, here on Monday, said that several MPs, MLCs, former MLAs and a majority of leaders are ready to quit TRS and join Congress in the coming days as they are vexed with the dictatorial and arrogant rule of K. Chandrasekhar Rao. “It seems at last only KCR and his family will remain in the party,” he added. Addressing a gathering of Congress workers, he accused the caretaker Chief Minister of destroying all democratic institutions including the media. “He (KCR) has no respect for any institution and therefore there is imperative need of protecting them by dethroning the TRS in the elections,” he said. Describing the elections as a war between KCR’s family and the people of Telangana, Mr. Reddy said that KCR had come to power through lies and false promises and ruled the State for four-and-a-half years cheating the people. Appealing to Muslim minorities not to vote for TRS as it would be equal to a vote for the BJP, he told them to ask the MIM as to why it was supporting TRS. Unkept promises AICC secretary and party Telangana in-charge R.C. Khuntia said Congress had no “power and money” and only its workers were its strength. He alleged that KCR had come to power with a plethora of promises, but failed to keep any of them. Only the defeat of TRS and KCR would augur well for Telangana, he said. Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir said that the elections would reverse the position of TRS giving a total of nine Assembly seats to Congress in the erstwhile united district. Congress’ tirade against the TRS and BJP would begin with Rahul Gandhi’s historic meeting here on October 20, he said. Urging the party workers and ticket aspirants to make the meeting a huge success by mobilising people, the leaders said that people from as many as 10 Assembly constituencies closer to this place, from the neighbouring four districts would turn up for Rahul Gandhi’s meeting. Congress Legislative Party leader in Assembly K. Jana Reddy, deputy leader Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC secretaries Saleem Ahmed and Madhu Yaskhi Goud, AICC observer Srinivasan and a host of leaders attended.
