Conclave on sustainability in cement industry opens

Besides the conclave on ‘Sustainability excellence of Indian cement industry and its vision for 2030’ the programme comprises the second edition of national awards for cement industry. A two-day conclave focused on the cement industry from a sustainability perspective got under way in the city on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman (Technical Committee) of Cement Manufacturers Association and Director-Technical of Maha Cement V.S. A programme of the Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), the conclave comes in the backdrop of changes sweeping the industry and emerge as a knowledge sharing platform. The industry, he added, is committed to work together on higher usage of alternate fuel and improving water conservation system.

Besides the conclave on ‘Sustainability excellence of Indian cement industry and its vision for 2030’ the programme comprises the second edition of national awards for cement industry. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman (Technical Committee) of Cement Manufacturers Association and Director-Technical of Maha Cement V.S. Narang said cement is one of the most energy-efficient sectors in the country. The industry, he added, is committed to work together on higher usage of alternate fuel and improving water conservation system. The conclave, over the two days, would discuss a number of topics from environment, energy and safety, productivity improvement to alternate fuels besides serving as a forum showcasing latest technology developments and successful case studies. Chairman of the Hyderabad chapter of QCFI Ch.Balakrishna Rao said the Forum was leading industries and organisations towards greater profitability, quality and safety in their operations by providing training inputs to the workforce.
