Call to revise road safety norms

Among suggestions that came up for discussion were ban on speed breakers, revision of definition of black spots, geo-tagging accident locations, automating data collection besides a host of policy interventions. Among the topics which came for intense discussion was insurance or rather, the lack of it. “Compliance to challans is only 35%. This is because vehicle owners don’t transfer the vehicle after selling it. Unless we link the mobile number with vehicle registration, this will not change,” said a stakeholder at the meeting.
