more-in The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) is on its toes dealing with passenger rush this Dasara season and will deploy over 4,400 special buses to meet the demand. TSRTC Executive Director (Operations) P. Komuraiah said the holiday season (October 8 to October 19) will see buses travelling across various districts of the State. Tuesday alone saw as many as 1,110 special buses being pressed into service. “A total of 4,480 special buses will be deployed this holiday season. These will travel in different directions. All officers are ready and busy working to ensure smooth operations,” Mr Komuraiah said. Apart from important bus stations like Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station and Jubilee Bus Station, other areas such as L.B. Nagar, Dilsukhnagar, Aramghar and Kukatpally Housing Board have been designated as high traffic generating areas. Kachiguda gets busy Mr Komuraiah said with the Mississippi Hangar out of order, buses are being pressed into service from Kachiguda bus station. “Buses to Kurnool and beyond are going from Kachiguda bus station. Trips to other places like Chittoor and Kadapa, too, are being made from here,” he said. However, on non-peak days, passengers have to shell out one-and-a-half times the regular ticket price if they are travelling to cities such as Vijayawada. “This is an old practice. Buses, which go packed, return empty from the destination. This is why charges are a little higher than usual. TSRTC teams are on the field till late at night,” he said.
