Gold trader held for selling fake tiger nails

VIJAYAWADA: City Task Force (CTF) sleuths in Vijayawada arrested a gold trader for allegedly cheating people by selling fake tiger nails on Tuesday. Upon receiving a tip off, assistant commissioner of police (CTF) G Rajiv Kumar raided his shop and found that the nails were fake. A case under relevant sections under forest act was registered against him. The accused was identified as Matta Narasimha Rao (38) from Chilakaluripet in Guntur district According to police, Rao came to Vijayawada back in 2009 and set up Sri Vijaya Lakshmi Diamonds shop at Raja Goplalachari street in Governorpet, later he began to sell tiger nails for a quick buck. The cops seized his property worth Rs 15 lakh.The cops said that the nails were made of plastic and earned lakhs of rupees by selling them to gullible people who believed them to be auspicious to possess.On the other hand, forest officials were also informed about the incident.

They took all the nails for testing to ascertain if there were any real ones present in them which is also a grave violation of the Forest Act.The police said that severe action would be taken against the accused and suppliers from where he was procuring nails. A case under relevant sections under forest act was registered against him.
