HYDERABAD: The High Court has told Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board to delete six faulty questions framed for recruitment of sub-inspectors and ordered it to rework the selection by omitting these questions for all the affected candidates. While ordering the PRB to redetermine merit, Justice M S Ramachandra Rao said that all those who had already qualified need not be disturbed. But the PRB was told to publish a revised list of all selected candidates from the remaining lot with their marks and hall ticket numbers. The board was told that it can go for physical measurements and other test only after this. The PRB test is for for filling up 1,217 SI posts in various organisations within state police. A total of 1.88 lakh candidates applied and preliminary written test was conducted for them on Aug 26, 2018. As many as 1.10 lakh qualified in the written test.A petition was filed in the HC by D Upender Reddy and 14 others from Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar and other districts challenging the six questions and also the way the PRB was proceeding further. Their counsel Chilla Ramesh told the court that the authorities gave very short time for candidates to furnish their objections. “Our objections were never seriously considered,” he said.State counsel Sarat Kumar contended that the PRB got the question paper prepared by experts from JNTU through a confidential process and denied error or ambiguity in the questions. He also said that courts cannot review decisions that were in the ambit of subject experts and a failed candidate cannot ask for deletion of questions as it would adversely affect those who had already qualified. “We are ready to only accommodate the petitioners who approached this court,” he said.Refusing the concession from the state counsel, petitioners told the court that they were not asking the court to disturb those who were already qualified. “Revalue only the papers of those who could not qualify for faulty questions. If solace is given to only those who approached the court then what happens to those who could not come to court,” theysaid. The judge said that there was a prima facie case and ordered deletion of six questions as they were faulty, ambiguous and incorrectly framed.
